The four-year old child is an amazing one. They are eager to learn and explore. They are sponges waiting to absorb. At Cedar Hill Prep, we strongly believe that a successful child is a well-rounded child. Therefore we educate the whole child. Intellectually, four year olds are making great strides. They understand words as well as use them correctly. They are expressing their interest in learning to read. They take things apart and try to put them together. Socially, the four year old is learning how to be a friend and how to play cooperatively with others. They are enthusiastic about anyone and anything that is new. They are eager to know why.  Emotionally, they are learning about feelings. They can express their own as well as understand other people’s feelings.

Physically, the four year old is more independent. You will often hear them say, “I can do it by myself.” The uses of their fine and gross motor skills are much improved.

Our goal at Cedar Hill Prep is to foster the love of learning and provide a classroom that is safe, nurturing and challenging. We incorporate all of the above and so much more in our curriculum.  Our daily schedule allows the children to move from a structured activity to a non- structured activity.  Through age appropriate learning experiences we expose the children to emerging literacy skills, math, science and social studies. Our weekly specials include, computers, music and art.

Communication between home and school is essential. At Cedar Hill Prep, we keep the parents apprised of everything that is going on within our classroom. We encourage you to ask, challenge and feel completely satisfied with your child’s education.
